Carrot seed EO by Nature's Kiss is a wonderful deal. When I bought it, I had no idea that it had a natural SPF -- still haven't had an opportunity to test that out for myself, and now that it's November. ..well, wait until June for an update on that. What I did notice right away is that it does live up to its reputation for being a natural skin smoother. In a facial mask recipe and an anti-wrinkle blend (diluted in a base of jojoba oil and other EOs), carrot seed oil gave me a nearly instant result of smoother-feeling skin. I've been using this blend for about one week now. It could be the placebo effect, but I also notice fewer tiny lines around the mouth and corners of my eyes. Gotta love that!

As for the smell, you will have to experience it for yourself. My kid likes it because it smells like pumpkin seeds to him, my man..not so much. Carrot seed EO definitely emits a warm, earthy odor. If you decide it's not to your taste, maybe blend with Lavendar to disguise ithe smell a bit, and be sure to dilute heavily in a base of carrier oil regardless: put "neat" onto my skin, it provokes that that faintly tingling feeling that warns me it could irritate more sensitive skin areas.

I've also seen recipes for carrot seed EO in massage oil blends with names like "PMS oil" and "Fat Attack" (to be massaged onto cellulite problem areas). Supposedly, the vitamin A-rich carrot seed oil helps with weight loss. Now THAT sounds like an overblown claim to me but it couldn't hurt me give it a try some time :). One little 10 ml. bottle of this stuff goes a long way.

Oil arrived very quickly and well priced. Shipping seemed a bit high but that is not unusual. I have been researching the benefits of essential oils and wanted the carrot seed oil for facial application. The odor is not very pleasant but can be offset by adding other oils that DO smell good. In fact, I will be using this oil in my own oil blend after showering, and allow the rest of my body to benefit from the properties in carrot seed oil. I am determined to make my own cosmetic blends so I do not have to depend on high priced commercial products! Gave 4 stars due to unpleasant odor. Also, container is smaller than expected but that is my fault for not checking product details. Will order again anyway.

I thought I would try carrot oil as I have read a lot of reviews on the benefits to the skin. I did see the prior review about the Earth smell and oh my. It isn't the good kind of earthy smell. It sort of smells like composting. The smell woke me up at night. Made my pillow stink. The 2nd night I tried mixing it with essential oils (dermoligica)to kill the odor. I actually purchased a 2nd bottle of another brand that smell like carrots. I wonder if you have to suffer with stink to have better skin? Of if you can smell like carrots and have better skin?

This oil has a chemical smell, Not at all like a quality carrot seed oil. Amazon won't let you return these oils since they are flammable! Attempting to save money, I have tried some of the other essential oil companies on Amazon . All the oils I have bought on Amazon are poor quality so I had to go back to buying them elsewhere.

I mixed this carrot seed oil in my face lotion to help decrease fine lines. Although I wish I hadn't gotten so eager. The smell was extremely strong and I could barely stand to have it on my face.

I was a little reluctant to purchase any essential oils from Amazon (for fear of lack of quality), but this product/company changed my mind and I'm glad I did! Product was shipped fast and very well packaged/protected (bottle wrapped in bubble wrap). So far, I've used it in a facial serum (hazelnut oil as a carrier) and even applied it around my eyes and had no burning. This was surprising given the fact that my eyes are so sensitive. Like many others have commented, it does have a strong earthy smell (indicative of a pure carrot seed EO) , similar to fresh, homegrown carrots just pulled from the ground. I hope that helps somewhat, everyone's sense of smell varies, so it is pleasant to some and offensive to others. Don't let that be off putting. Not my favorite smelling EO either, but I'd put up with that for effectiveness. I can't wait to try it in sunscreen! There's really not much else to say that everyone hasn't already said, but because I rely heavily on user reviews before making a purchase, I decided to "give back" with an honest opinion. So if you're wondering if you should give this a try, I'd say this is a quality product at an excellent price. I will be trying out more essential oils from Nature's Kiss in the future.

I am not a scientist so I can't tell you how pure it is but MAN DOES THIS SMELL!!!!! I have to mix it with many other scents to tone down its smell. It feels great on the skin. I can FEEL IT working. But it stinks. Bad enough that I don't plan to use it everyday. I can really only tolerate 1 drop in a lot of carrier oil with other scents. I plan to put a drop or two in body lotion so my body skin will get some SPF. I don't know if 1 - 2 drops is enough to warrant any usefulness. If you're looking for natural sun screen, get the red raspberry oil. However, I think this oil makes a wonderful skin tightening mask to WASH OFF

I purchased this essential oil to use in a sunscreen mix. I was a little doubtful that an EO could actually provide any protection from the sun's rays, but thought that for the price I would try it nonetheless.

When I opened the bottle, I of course smelled it and I think it smells like carrots. Others have said it smells bad or earthy, but even though I don't think it's a perfume-worthy scent, it smells to me just like mushed up carrots (I think that's a good thing!).

To my great surprise, it DOES work as a natural SPF. I combined it with coconut oil, fractionated coconut oil, shea butter, and beeswax to make a "sunscreen" that smelled like carrots (with another EO mix to try and cover it a bit). It definitely worked. So, I am extremely pleased with the quality and price of this oil. I have yet to use it in any other way that others list as reasons to utilize carrot seed oil, but I am very happy with this purchase and would buy it from Nature's Kiss again.
