Product Description

The stockpot is a pan you'll use day in and day out. Whether you're boiling pasta, making a batch of chili or cooking grains, this pan is just the right size. When it's not on the stovetop, its two short side handles help it take up less space in your cabinet. The TOTAL Hi-Low Food Release system protects the nonstick surface from abrasion and allows food to slide out easily.

I bought two of the darker version of this pot before getting this stainless steel version. This pot has the same circular pattern and non-stick surface of the other pot, but is also has a thicker bottom, not as prone to being warped on the heat. It will also work on an induction stove if you have one.
The size of this pot is wonderful for big all-in-one pot meals. It is the most used pot I have. Once I received it, I took the old darker pot out and took it to the garage. I put a small piece of 2x4 across the bottom, then hit it with a heavy mallet, Wouldn't you know that the warped bottom was gone at that point. So i now have both, and I ma happy to keep them both. The glass top has a stainless steel edge around it. They redesigned the handles so there is a great chance of burning your fingers if you get to close to one side or the other. the old pot didn't have that problem, it had rubber from edge to edge, and no metal could touch your fingers no matter what. In any case, the handles are big, and won't present any problem as long as you know the metal parts are hot. The pot is oven safe to 400 F, but I use mine on the stove, and never tried to put it in the oven. It's nice to know I could if the need ever comes.

OK but wish top and handles didn't stick out so much, it does not fit in Wonderbag Cooker

This Is A Wonderful Braiser!! I use it for my roasts, braised pork curry, chili, chicken with vegetables, beans, and stews. I would not call it a stock pot. I have two 8 quart stockpots that have a narrower base, and are taller than this pot. Those, I use to boil pasta, make chicken and beef stock for freezing, and cooking fresh greens.

The design of this pot is absolutely perfect for long slow cooking in the oven. It is so well suited for this specific task. The Circulon non-stick surface has served me well over the years. There are no hotspots, and it cleans up quickly and thoroughly by hand washing. I have owned some Circulon pieces for more than ten years, and I don't regret one purchase. Not one. Every piece I own looks as good as it did the day I took it out of the box.

I like Circulon better than any other brand non-stick (except for the very old 'red dot' T-Fal, which lasted longer than every other non-stick, period).

But there are 2 negatives that make me NOT love them:

- The shapes of the pots. The saucepots are tall and narrow. The stewpots are wide and shallow. I really prefer Calphalon's pot shapes, but their non-stick is the worst around, simply terrible quality.

- What is with the 'high-rise" handles on the lids of this line? 99.9% of kitchens don't have sufficient storage space. Why is Circulon/Meyer making lids that take up twice as much depth as they should?

I have a GE Profile induction cooktop, and the Circulon Contempo Stainless Steel pots and pans work wonderfully! And Circulon has the best non-stick surface in my opinion - some of my Circulon pans are ten years old and the nonstick surface still works great. I always hand-wash my non-stick cookware, so even though the newer Circulon cookware is supposed to be dishwasher safe, I would still recommend washing them by hand. I like this low, wide pot for stews and rice dishes. The handle on the lid of the Contempo series does make lids difficult to stack, but I love how the handles do not get hot - unlike the Circulon Genesis lid handles!
