When I travel I use a very small crossbody bag that is lightweight and holds only the essentials. This is because walking around with anything heavy hurts my already bad back, I have been known to leave things I can put down easily behind and the cross body bags are less condusively to being pickpocketed. I travel a fair amount and this is what works best for me. My problem is when I want to carry a snack, a bottle of water or do any shopping so I thought this would be the perfect solution and I was right! After a recent trip through Europe for a few weeks I used this bag and it fits so easily wrapped up into my tiny crossbody bag with my camera and other essentials, taking up very little of my precious room while barely weighing a thing so that even if I don't use it all day, it wasn't even a slight hassle to carry it. If I did any shopping (I don't do a lot when I travel, I like to travel inexpensively) or it was hot and I needed a drink, I would open up the backpack, throw my stuff in and carry it on my back. With nothing in it, it feels like you're wearing a plastic bag, almost weightless. I bought something very expensive at one stop and wanted to put it in my cross body bag for safe keeping so I took this out to make room and just wore it empty and it was like I had nothing on. I've also had it filled with drinks, shopping, a sweater, etc and it's VERY comfortable. The straps are supportive and fit just how/where I would want them to so they skimped (for it to be foldable) on all the right things but not on the important stuff. The zippers work great and aren't flimsy. I NEVER felt like it couldn't handle what I put in it or that it might rip or give in to the weight or pressure of what was in it. It is very durable. The zipper angle is a little unique in that the start and end are closer to your body than I'm used to and it has a fabric flap over the zipper. For both of those reasons I feel like this bag is less condusive to being pickpocketed. We had one person in our group have their purse stolen off them in Paris and another picked in Rome (very common in these cities) but I felt really comfortable with this bag on. I could even reach back and check my zipper periodically without having to take it off. I did not use the front pocket when I travelled for that reason. Lastly, I naturally do very poorly in the heat and am not in shape so I get sweaty just standing in the sun on a warm day, nevermind walking around in it all day with a backpack on. This backpack was amazing for that. It breathed so well and never felt uncomfortable when I was overheated and the material naturally doesn't seem to absorb any moisture. It was a godsend for someone like me. I couldn't speak any more highly about this bag lol. It's one of my favorite things I own, ever.

I use this bag to carry my laptop (in a sleeve) and headphones on planes while stowing my 'real' carry-on. The best feature of this bag is how light and portable it is. Great for the gym/beach, you can pack it away into nothing until you need it. The straps are surprisingly comfortable even though they're not filled with padding.

I had the zipper seam start to separate after carrying a towel, laptop, toiletries and water bottle in this thing. To Eagle Creek's credit, they have a very simple repair policy and I had my bag back and repaired within a week (I only paid for outbound shipping to their repair contractor).

I was looking to replace the earlier model of this packable daypack and was at first disappointed that this new model folds to much bigger size than before (the earlier model folded to the size of a small wallet. This one is almost a small paperback book size). I've since gotten over that minor downside, though!

I use this daypack almost everyday on my daily bike commute. It's light but holds a lot (I can put a sturdy bike U-lock, two 2 Liter bottles of soda, a light bike jacket and a pocket book in this thing without breaking it, though that load wouldn't be comfortable on my back). I have crashed while wearing the pack a couple of times, one with a hard landing on the back, and it survived fully functional (and saved my back from road rash). Love the bigger zipped pocket (the older version has such a small one that you can't fit much more than a keychain in) and the much wider and softer straps are more comfortable to wear (the older version straps quickly got squeezed out of shape and were more prone to dig into the shoulder when carrying heavy stuff). The pack is washable. Every so often when it gets really icky from dirt and sweat marks I'd throw it in the washing machine on cold - cold, and then hang dry and it'd come out looking like new again.

The only downside to the pack now, aside from not folding down to pocket size anymore (but it's still plenty small enough to tuck into a proper backpack or luggage without taking up much room) is that it is not waterproof. I improvise by lining the inside with a plastic bag, and that does the trick quite well.

Overall, this daypack gives very good value for its price and is very durable. I've had mine for a full year now (and I ride 200 miles/week with it on my back in all sort of weather). Highly recommended!

This is a really well-made lightweight rucksack that you can pack loads of stuff into for a days hiking. It's really comfortable to carry. However, last time out it was raining quite hard and everything inside the bag got wet - I hadn't realised it wasn't waterproof! It's still a good bag but just for dry days. I've bought a sea to summit bag for wet days.
