Well, I was initially VERY happy with my purchase. A LEATHER dowel rod-style briefcase for this price was great! And I've owned MANY, MANY Samsonite items that ALL held up even with round-the-world travel. However, the piping around the corners started to break down after just a few months (the piping itself isn't leather, but some sort of fiber covered with an extremely thin material: maybe leather -but if it is, it's the thinnest leather I've ever seen, and certainly NOT suitable for use on the corners of something that's gonna take a beating). And now, a year and a half later, the bag looks pretty beat up (and I've only used it for lugging my laptop and files to-and-from work -never traveled overseas with it). The latest thing to give out is one of the flap buckles, which is riveted through a vertical seam. Not really the most mechanically sound fixing method since the flap is integral to the shoulder strap -which means that the buckets bear half the load of whatever's inside the briefcase. Needless to say, I am very disappointed with this bag since it has the Samsonite name on it. ALL of my other Samsonite items have lasted MANY, MANY years with little to no wear when taken around the world countless times. This item lasted just over a year before starting to look like I pulled it out of someone else's trash.

This bag is very very nice. When the box arrived The bag itself was in a series of 3 boxes and a plastic bag. However, I could still smell the leather before opening the first box. The first thing that struck me about the bag is how nice the leather is. The leather seems thick and rugged but still soft to the touch. The build quality of the bag is also great. The stitching is solid and all the nickel hardware looks like it is build for years of use and abuse. The inside of the bag is lined and soft. It will provide plenty of padding for my Ipad and laptop. I have a 13 in mac book air but the provided literature explains that the bag will fit up to a 15.6 inch laptop. So it was no surprise that my laptop fits even with a cover or sleeve over it. I was surprised to find that my ipad fit in the tablet slot even with a thick protective cover on it. It was a snug fit but I was pleased that I didn't have to search for a new cover for my ipad. With everything in the bag I still have plenty of room for other books and papers. However if you are a student (especially a law student like myself) this bag may not be large enough to carry multiple large heavy books. I plan on using this to carry a laptop and a few items for internships and class days with less reading. On that note the bag looks very professional yet still young and modern. It is perfect for young professional who is not trying to carry a backpack to a professional office or courthouse. At less than $100 it is a steal for a bag of this quality with these accessories. The bag also has a slot zipper pocket on the back for extra storage, as well as a pass through that I believe is meant to allow you to place it over the handle of a roller bag for easy travel. The only cons I can think of are that there is no perfect place to put the chargers for your tablet and laptop. Also the front slot has pen slots that are a little too small for larger pens and hi lighters. I have also found that the latches on the front of the bag although not particularly difficult do not provide quick access to the bags contents. (By the way the latches are not the buckles as shown on the picture, those are fake, the latches are behind the leather straps and are a standard push button latch.) When all is said and done I am extremely happy with the bag and would suggest it to anyone asking.

Went to the mall (Macy's) to see the Samsonite products myself and brought my 17.3" laptop with me. I went to see 2 briefcases, this being one of them. The other, my laptop didn't fit the height, so no good. Opened this one up and my laptop fit in the padded section snugly but a nice fit. I also checked it out in the non-padded middle section and if had plenty of room and it was in the middle of the bag so it would be protected in that spot also, but this section is good to hold papers, notebooks and the charger cables. Nice leather and hardware, push down button snaps are a little tricky but not bad. Only the 17.3" laptop in the padded section, no room for anything else, maybe a 15.6" laptop would allow room for the charger. The case leather is firm which holds it's shape and the front area section holds all you cards, pens, phone, calculator etc... The only bad thing I found, if you call it that, is the carrying strap. This is a nice leather bag and to have a nylon strap is ok but deserves better. I left Macy's satisfied that I found the bag I wanted so I came home and bought it here and saved $40 even though they had a 50% off sale. I bought a nice leather strap with nice hooks so I can carry this case comfortably. On the backside of the bag is an open slot for your luggage handle. Not sure why the other bad reviews of bad smell or synthetic leather stuff. This is a sweet briefcase/ laptop leather bag with plenty of room.

The worse part is the open slot/pocket in the back; it is completely open at the bottom. I nearly lost my passport and money because the bottom is open just like the top. What's the point???? There is a zipper pocket on back also, so pls be sure and put items in the zipper slot. If Anybody can explain the reason for the completely open slot/pocket at the bottom on the back of this case, I'm listening. You think you are ptting your belongings in a secure pocket just to have everything slid straight through. Again, what's the point? The iside is nice and roomy. Will hold a 15 in laptop and many other necessities.
