Don't misinterpret my review. I love Starbucks Italian Roast coffee. It's my favorite. I always buy whole beans and grind myself. I drink it all the time, and I know the flavor very well. However, I do not recommend buying from Amazon. First off, the bag that I received showed obvious signs that the expiration date was removed (see photo). So, I do not know when these beans expired. Second, I compared the look of the beans with a recent bag that purchased from my local supermarket (see attached photo). The fresh store-bought beans in the top of the photo look healthy and shiny/slightly oily - the way they should look. In comparison, the beans that I purchased from Amazon appear to be dried out. And third, and most importantly, the brewed coffee tasted flat and did not have the full-body flavor typical of Starbucks Italian Roast. The rest of the bag went straight in the trash. BTW...the seller on my invoice was listed as "CV Traders" so this might not be typical of all Starbucks coffee sold on Amazon. Avoid this seller.

This is it! I've tried many dark coffees over the years and with each new one I think "this is it!" The Starbucks Italian Roast is it! I promise. It is dark, flavorful and, as an added bonus, so dark it makes 2 shots of rich espresso, with a hefty crema, and a dark cup of coffee from the same brew! My wife, also an espresso lover, loves this "second cup" as her morning coffee. Friends who are a bit timid of the dark roast like this "second cup" in a latte or cappuccino. It's that dark and flavorful. 1 lb. of beans for about $11 is a very good price. For me, the Holy Grail of coffees!

I got this because it seems the Starbucks stores near me and the retail stores are no longer selling the whole bean espresso blend. It’s about as dark as dark gets. Drinking it might as well be drinking espresso. It has a flavor and after taste to it like no other coffee I’ve ever had and I like it when I do my turtle lattes but it’s not really good when I make my iced white chocolate mocha Or iced Macchiatos. (If you don’t have a ninja coffee maker then what are you even doing with your life).
