Thomas and Friends has three lines of toys. The Trackmaster are the biggest trains and can self run on batteries. The Wooden Railway line are larger as well and as the name implies are made of wood. The Take n Play line are the smallest trains (for on-the-go play) and the cheapest. They are made of die cast metal and are fairly heavy. All of the Thomas toys are expensive but they are also very durable and hold there resale value very well.
With that intro aside Talking Salty, as my son calls him, is great. He lights and says a couple of expressions each time you push his button. When his button isn't pushed he's silent. If you just push him around he lights up but doesn't speak. His volume is not that loud and the battery lasts a long time. Everything a parent could hope for! Any child who is fan of Thomas will love adding Talking Salty to there collection.
Not sure how clearly it's stated in the description, but I guess in my excitement at finding a talking Salty, I missed that this is actually small METAL train (eek!) and is too small to fit on the wooden track (thomas wooden railway and compatable tracks). Too bad, though, Salty is a favorite around here...he does say a few fun phrases, at least!
Excellent choice for my two-years-old son, he loves this TV show and make me watch it with him over and over again (Excelente opcion para mi hijo de 2 años, él ama el programa de television y me hace verlo junto con él una y otra vez)..
We have lots of Thomas the Trains for our kids. These diecast models are great - well made and small. This one of Salty is nice. Has 3 or 4 recordings that allow Salty to talk or sing when you pus the button on top. Well made. Kids love it. Worth the money.
Any little Thomas the Tank Engine fan will love hearing Salty speak. My 21 month old grandson was delighted with this train and enjoyed pushing the button to make Salty talk.
