Excellent quality for the money. Purchased an cordless impact gun for our wrecker & needed a set of sockets to go with it. These were cheap enough, so I thought we would give them a try. They really worked well. I was so impressed that when my strap-on 22mm impact socket vanished into thin air, I ordered another set of these. I use them regularly & they seem to be holding up just fine. Also, this set was much cheaper than replacing the single missing strap-on socket.
As others have stated, it is an odd set, missing some critical sizes. I would like to see them do away with the 10mm & 11mm & give you a 15mm & a 18mm. Does anyone really need a 1/2" impact socket on a 10mm headed bolt? If so, I believe you are doing it wrong. In my 20+ year old set of 1/2" impact sockets, the 12mm looks almost brand new & the 13mm shows signs of minimal use. Also, in my 30 or so years of working on cars, I have yet to run across a 11mm nut or bolt on anything. I mainly work on Japanese imports, but I do dabble in a little bit of everything. Seems like a filler size, just there to make the set look more complete. I would gladly pay a little more for this set if there were a 15mm & an 18mm. Just my opinion.... and we all know about opinions.
Also, a few of them are not marked very well, but that is just a minor inconvenience.
Summarized: If you are looking for an inexpensive set of impact sockets, that do what they say there going to do & wont fall apart like some harborfright krap, pick up a set of these. You won't be disappointed.
And STANLEY, if your listening & if you care, make a set with a 15mm & a 18MM. You will have a lot more happy customers. GG - arbez
I saw comments about the size marking being indistinct, but found that on my set, at least, they are readable enough. Besides, in the worst case scenario, if you pull out the wrong socket, you just go one size up or down in a matter of seconds. Where's the beef? Most (amature) people don't automatically, in my experience, judge accurately enough to KNOW it's a 13 or 14 mm nut or bolt head, but grab a socket that looks right, adjust as needed.
My set has the full compliment of standard metric sizes -- just what I needed -- and I absolutely love the plastic case - no fumbling in the wrench drawer with these!
So far they have been durable, the fit is accurate, and I am very pleased.
They have not stripped anything I was ever trying to unscrew. I couple them with my IR gun and man are yet amazing.
I use 17,19,21 the most
21 is showing some light wears but, in no doubt this is a quality built item so it will go problemless of years to come.
I really like the case it comes with because I just lay ten at the side of my tool cart. I have place to put them so never will I lose a socket. The case closes with a handle for best portability experience.
If your a on the go mechanic that works everywhere I'm sure you will love them.
Just working at your garage? No problem, grab a set. These are cheap and will last you quite some time. They even come with lifetime warranty so no need to worry.
Shop mechanics? Like I said, I just open them keep them at the side of my tool box. Bam all the most common sizes are there.
Organize friendly.
1. This is a decently sized set for the money ($22), and even though it includes the sizes in the description, the lack of 15, 18 and 20mm sockets makes this a hard set to finish off later. I really needed a 20mm, although I didn't realize I needed it until I got into the job. It's my fault, but still makes this set less attractive than a truly consecutive one.
2. The case this set comes in is certainly handy (so is the handle), however, mine opened during shipping, despite the extra metal screw to hold it closed. By the time I got it, only 1 of the sockets was actually still in the case, and the box had opened. Luckily, they all stayed inside the box. The sockets were just too heavy for the case given the typical UPS treatment, but it also makes me concerned that it could do that to me should I drop it.
This is a great set, just not perfect.
